Siyakhula Trust grew out of the non-profit community training initiatives of Percon, a training consultancy operating in the corporate sector. In the early 1980’s Percon realized that in order for South Africa to bring about change that communities had to be empowered. As a result capacity training was offered to community leaders and NPOs in both the rural and urban disadvantaged areas.
By the early 1990s the need for such work had grown to such an extent that Siyakhula Trust was launched as an independent entity.
